The man recognized the Charger immediately, telling Baker that the car was the only '68 R/T in the Houston area that was "as loaded out" as this one is, with factory A/C, power windows, front disc brakes, AM 8-track, rear defogger and a lighting package. Thrilled to see the neighborly ride out and about on the road again, the man sent Baker a photo of the car sitting in the original owner's driveway, as well as a picture of the original purchase order for the car, from Palm Coast Dodge on the Southwest Freeway. The Charger was initially based on the Coronet frame. 1968 saw a re-envisioned version of the Charger with a bigger, bolder look and a tunnel roof design. The 440 Magnum engine was standard on the R/T models, and the R/T was later listed as one of the top five muscle cars by Muscle Car magazine. Baker's rebuild didn't stop at the paint and the powertrain, though, as he sent the original 8-track player to be refurbished to get it back in proper running order, as well.
